La agrupación se encuentra afinando los últimos detalles de su próxima placa
Conversamos con los chicos de la banda sueca The Great Discord, quienes se encuentran en plena finalización de su segundo disco, el cual saldrá en el segundo semestre del presente año, además de contarnos sobre la historia de la banda y sus planes a futuro. Lee lo que nos tiene que mostrar esta nueva agrupación metalera a continuación:

TGD: Hola! Gracias por la entrevista, estamos muy bien.

1. Hi guys, ¿How are you?
TGD: Hi there! Thank you for having us for an interview. We are feeling great.
2. Sabemos que están trabajando en un nuevo disco, ¿Qué nos pueden decir sobre el?
TGD: Sí, nuestro próximo álbum ‘The Rabbit Hole’, está completo y será lanzado el 8 de septiembre de este año. Este disco es nuestro propio y oscuro giro a la historia de Lewis Carrol, ‘Alicia en el País de las Maravillas’, donde nuestro personaje principal, Fia, es presentada como un nuevo personaje, con la Ira. La Ira atrae a Fia hacia un agujero de conejo, y una historia de pasión, ira, locura y la liberación toman lugar. El álbum es conceptual y consiste en una representación teatral dividida en tres actos donde puedes seguir la relación algo destructiva de Fia y de la Ira. Al igual que la historia original de Alice, nuestro cuento es un viaje psicodélico y la historia está abierta a interpretación. Así que para los que quieren profundizar en el agujero del conejo, hemos escrito un libro (también titulado ‘The Rabbit Hole’) para completar el cuento y para dar a nuestros fans una mayor oportunidad de hundirse en la oscuridad de Ira. El lenguaje musical es un poco más sencillo en este álbum y realmente sentimos que hemos podido escoger las mejores piezas de lo que hicimos con nuestro primer álbum ‘Duende’ y hemos creado algo así como un hilo rojo. Hemos mantenido todo lo grandioso que es The Great Discord y añadimos más interesantes, pero refinados toques a la misma. Estamos muy orgullosos de este álbum y no podemos esperar para mostrarlo al mundo.

2. We know that you’re working on a new album, ¿What can you tell us about it?
TGD: Yes, our next album ‘The Rabbit Hole’ is complete and will be released on the 8th of September this year. This album is our own dark twist on Lewis Carrols’s Alice in Wonderland where our main persona Fia is presented to a new persona, Ire. Ire lures Fia down into a rabbit hole and a story of passion, wrath, madness and liberation takes place. The album is a concept album and consists of a theatrical performance divided into three acts where you get to follow Fia’s and Ire’s somewhat destructive relationship. Just as the original story of Alice, our tale is a psychedelic journey and the tale is open for interpretation. So for the ones who want to dig deeper into the rabbit hole we have written a book (also entitled ‘The Rabbit Hole’) to complete the tale and to give our fans a greater chance to simmer in the darkness of Ire. The musical language is a little bit more straight forward on this album and we really feel that we have been able to pick the best pieces from what we did with our first album ‘Duende’ and created more of a red thread. We have kept everything grand that is The Great Discord and added more interesting, yet refined touches to it. We are really proud of this album and we cannot wait until we get to show it to the world.
3. Han liberado 2 videos/singles en los últimos meses, el álbum saldrá en septiembre, ¿Podemos esperar alguna otra canción como avance?
TGD: Sí, lanzamos el primer single ‘Darkest Day’ junto con un video, donde se presentó la Ira por primera vez. El último single, ‘The Red Rabbit’ fue lanzado con un video también, de una naturaleza más objetable donde se obtiene una visión del verdadero personaje de la Ira. Los dos videos están disponibles en YouTube, ¡Véanlos! Antes de que el álbum sea lanzado, nuestros seguidores pueden esperar a que salga otro adelanto a finales del verano. Este single/video que saldrá, ha sido un gran proyecto para nosotros, y creemos que volverá a unir el hilo rojo en el tema de la fantasía de una manera diferente a la esperada en el género del metal. Por lo tanto, como siempre decimos, ¡manténganse vigilantes!

3. You have released two videos/singles in the last months, the album is going to be out in september, ¿Can we expect another song as an advance?
TGD: Yes. We released the first single ‘Darkest Day’ together with a music video where Ire was introduced for the first time. The latest single ‘The Red Rabbit’ was released together with a music video of a more objectionable nature where you get a glimpse of Ire’s true personage. Both videos are available on YouTube. Check them out! Before the album is released our fans can look forward to yet another single towards the end of summer. This single and video that will be released has been a big project for us to work with and we feel that it will reassemble the red thread to the fantasy theme in a different way than expected in the metal genre. So, as we always say, stay vigilant!
4. ¿Cómo se sienten sobre la recepción del público desde el primer EP ‘Echoes’ hasta ahora con ‘The Rabbit Hole’?
TGD: No podemos estar más felices por lejos, con esta recepción. Estamos abrumados de tanto amor, pasión y compromiso que la gente nos ha mostrado desde que anunciamos nuestro segundo disco. Cuando estrenas nueva música, te sientes como si dieras un pedazo de tu alma para que el público lo vea y se te corta la respiración por un momento, cuando empiezas a ver la reacción de la gente en redes sociales, Spotify o lo que sea. The Great Discord siempre está tratando de despertar emociones y dar al mundo un reto tanto para los oídos como para los ojos. Y por lo tanto, se siente bien recibir tanta retroalimentación positiva como negativa. Eso significa que estamos teniendo éxito en nuestra designación personal para afectar las emociones de la gente. Pero mentiríamos si no admitiéramos que se siente especialmente maravilloso cuando la gente está disfrutando de tu trabajo y quiere oír más. Eso te hace querer hacer todo el trabajo duro una y otra y otra vez.

4. ¿How do you feel about the reception of the people from your first EP ‘Echoes’ until now with ‘The Rabbit Hole’?
TGD: We couldn’t be more happy with the reception so far. We are overwhelmed with the love, passion and engagement that people all over the world have shown us since we started to announce our release for our second album. When releasing new music you almost feel as you’re giving away a little piece of your soul for the public to view and you hold your breath for a bit when the first reactions starts to pump out on social medias, Spotify or wherever. The Great Discord are always trying to stir emotions up and give the world a challenge both for the ears and eyes. And therefore is feels good to receive both positive and negative feedback. That means that we’re succeeding in our self-appointed assignment to affect peoples emotions. But, we would lie if we didn’t admit that it feels especially wonderful when people are enjoying your work and wants to hear more. That makes you wanna do all the hard work over and over and over again.
5. Sus seguidores han aumentado en los últimos años, alrededor del mundo, ¿Qué nos pueden decir sobre esto?
TGD: Bueno, una vez más, no podemos agradecer a nuestros fans lo suficiente por su inagotable compromiso con nuestra pequeña orquesta. Nos dan tanto amor y no creo que entiendan cuánto nos emociona el corazón ver que hacen arte, pinturas, muñecas de papel, cubiertas y otras cosas locas para que podamos disfrutar. Comenzamos nuestro propio street team para los fanáticos que estaba dispuestos a dar a conocer la banda y desafortunadamente tuvimos que cerrar la web para las inscripciones después de un rato, debido a que realmente era demasiado para poder manejarlo. Esto fue una gran sorpresa para nosotros y estamos asombrados por su dedicación. También sentimos que nuestros tours con Ghost y Katatonia nos dieron una buena oportunidad de mostrarnos a una nueva audiencia y por eso estamos agradecidos. Y, naturalmente, cruzamos los dedos para que cada vez más personas estén dispuestas a unirse a nosotros bajo el agujero del conejo y continúen el viaje junto con nosotros.

5. Your fans have increased in the last years, around the globe, ¿What can you say about this?
TGD: Well, yet again we can not thank our fans enough for their inexhaustible commitment to our little orchestra. They give us so much love and I don’t think they understand how much it warms our hearts to see them make art, paintings, paper dolls, covers and other crazy stuff for us to relish upon. We started our own street team for fans who was willing to spread the word of The Great Discord and unfortunately we had to close the address for applications after a while due to the fact that it actually became to many for us to handle. That was a big surprise to us and we are stunned by their dedication. We also feel that our tours with Ghost and Katatonia gave us a good chance to show our selves to some new audience and for that we are grateful. And naturally, we cr
oss our fingers that more and more people are willing to join us down the rabbit hole and continue the journey together with us over time.
6. ¿Hay planes de realizar giras en otros continentes, como Sudamérica?
TGD: Por ahora tenemos algunos shows, el 25 de julio estaremos en Metal Days en Eslovenia. Estamos planeando realizar una gira con el lanzamiento del disco y a parte de Europa, definitivamente estamos planeando y realizando esquemas para los tours al otro lado del Atlántico. Nos encantaría tocar en Sudamérica, pero no podemos decir más que eso por ahora, así que, como siempre, ¡manténganse atentos!

6. ¿Are there some plans about touring in others continents, like southamerica?
TGD: As for now we have a show coming up the 25th of July at Metal Days in Slovenia. We are planning to tour the hell out of this album and apart from Europe we are definitely planning and scheming for tours on the other side of the Atlantic for this coming album cycle. We would love to play South America but we can’t say more than that at the moment, so as always, stay vigilant!
7. Después del lanzamiento de ‘The Rabbit Hole’, ¿Tienen algún plan para el futuro?
TGD: Apoderarse del mundo! Ese es siempre el plan. Sentimos que tenemos mucho más que entregar y realmente es importante darle a tu música el tiempo para crecer. Los planes, las historias y la música ya están tomando forma para el futuro, así que no teman (o si?) La gente, no se deshará de The Great Discord.

7. After the release of ‘The Rabbit Hole’, ¿Do you have some plans for the future?
TGD: Take over the world! That’s always the plan. We feel that we have so much more to give and it really is a matter of giving your music and concept time to grow. Plans, stories and music are already taking form for the future so do not fear (or do?) people, you won’t get rid of The Great Discord.
8. Podemos notar que los títulos de los trabajo estudio tienen una especie de relación entre ellos, ¿Hay alguna historia relacionada en todos ellos?
TGD: Siempre hemos tenido una fascinación por el poder de los idiomas y disfrutamos de darnos tiempo de indagar en los diccionarios y traducir nuestras historias en idiomas que vemos que se apegan a la música. Siempre creamos música y letras sobre temas, así que suponemos que las canciones de nuestros discos siempre, de alguna manera, estarán conectadas entre sí.

8. We can notice that the titles of your studio works have a kind of relation with each other, ¿Is there some related story in all of them?
TGD: We have always had a fascination for the power of language and enjoy taking time to dig in dictionaries and translate our stories into languages that we see fit the music. We always create music and lyrics around themes, so we guess the songs on our albums will always, somehow, be connected to one another.
9. ¿Cuál, dirían ustedes, es la esencia de la banda? ¿Qué pueden transmitir sus letras a los fans?
TGD: La idea de The Great Discord es entregar a nuestros oyentes, música e historias que te lleven dentro de la mente humana. Disfrutamos de explorar los diferentes marcos de la mente, las emociones y los demonios que la gente carga día a dia, desde las típicas preocupaciones pequeñas hasta los problemas mentales extremos. Nuestros personajes son la entidad que personifica los diferentes estados mentales que las letras describen. Queremos que nuestros oyentes no sólo sientan la música, sino que sientan las diferentes emociones que las personas transmiten, si son desagradables o hermosas. Esa es la gran discordancia en la vida. No hay luz sin oscuridad.

9. ¿Which, would you say, is the essence of the band? ¿What can your lyrics transmit to the fans?
TGD: The idea of The Great Discord is to give our listeners music and stories that takes you on a ride inside the human mind. We enjoy exploring different frames of mind, emotions and demons that people struggle with in daily life, from the usual small worries to extreme mental illness. Our personas are the entity that personifies the different states of mind that the lyrics describe. We want our listeners to not only feel the music, but to feel the different emotions that the personas convey wether it is unpleasant or beautiful. That is the great discordance in life. No light without dark.
10. ¿Puede darnos algunas palabras para nuestros lectores y sus fans sudamericanos (y los de alrededor del mundo)?
TGD: Gracias desde el fondo de nuestro corazón. No estaríamos ni cerca de donde estamos si no fuera por ustedes, y confíen en nosotros, estamos tan ansiosos como ustedes de salir y tocar para todos! Estén atentos! Juntos podemos hacer que la magia ocurra!

TGD: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We would not be anywhere near where we are today if it wasn’t for you guys! And trust us, we are just as eager as you to come out and play for you all! Stay vigilant! Together we can make magic happen!
